Higher Dimension Church's Office of Community Empowerment
The mission of the Higher Dimension Church's Office of Community Empowerment Ministry is to connect with adolescents ages 12-17 and their families to effect change of their perception of risks so that they might lead more productive lives with more favorable outcomes.
Who do we serve: Youth between the ages of 12 and 17 and their familes
What do we do: A group of committed, dedicated and experienced workers and community partners assist youth and their familes:
Provide adolescents age 12-17 with culturally competent HIV/AIDS and substacne abuse prevention information, resources and materials in naturalistic settings that increase retention in treatment.
Decrease criminal justice involvement
Increase access to SA/HIV prevention / intervention services
When do we serve: Monday thru Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm ---- Saturday Varies
Where do we serve: The D-spot 9745 Bissonnet Houston, Tx. 77036
Why do we serve: To effect the community by changing the perceptions of risk therefore changing risk behaviors
How do we serve: The ministry provides many experiences, such as:
- Evidence based curriculum classes usually Wed. 6pm - 7pm
- Evidence based classes at Alief ISD schools
- Parent Sessions offered weekly
- Positive Youth Development Events
- Community Service Events (i.e. Health Fairs, Lock-ins, Seminars, PSA's, Recreational & Social Functions)
